Every Slack request acknowledged and scheduled

You're the only one who can build automations, so requests land in Slack all day. Each one pulls you out of deep work.

In their shoes · The one builder everyone messages

Before and after.

When one person builds every automation for a team, requests arrive in Slack all day. Each one is a context switch, and research shows it takes an average of 23 minutes to fully refocus after an interruption. Ignoring messages is worse, because people follow up and escalate.

  • Requests forgotten or answered late
  • Follow-ups and escalations when people feel ignored
How it works

What we built, step by step.

Step 1

Catch the request

The assistant picks up any message that mentions it or lands in the intake channel, with who sent it and when.

Step 2

Work out the ask

AI reads the message and pulls out what is needed, a rough effort estimate and how urgent it is.

Step 3

Reply in the thread

A warm, human-sounding reply goes back in the thread, so the sender knows it is received and when to expect it.

Step 4

Block time on the calendar

A calendar event is created with the task, the estimated time and a link to the original message.

The problem

When one person builds every automation for a team, requests arrive in Slack all day. Each one is a context switch, and research shows it takes an average of 23 minutes to fully refocus after an interruption. Ignoring messages is worse, because people follow up and escalate.

What we built

We built a Slack assistant that picks up any request sent to it or posted in an intake channel. AI works out what is being asked, how long it will take and how urgent it is, posts a friendly reply in the thread, and creates a calendar block with a link back to the message.

What changed

Every request gets an answer within seconds and lands on the calendar, so nothing falls through the cracks. Notifications can stay off during focus time without anyone feeling ignored.
